African American
Our polls, focus groups and StreetSmart research team have reached out to African Americans on behalf of a wide spectrum of clients. When the pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline wanted to gather data and strategic insights on the smoking habits of African-Americans, they turned to Kelton. Our research not only helped GSK in the development and marketing of several new product offerings, it also gained significant publicity and media traction for the pharma giant.
We’re also very proud of our work following Hurricane Katrina. Eighteen of America’s most prominent charities—including The United Way, Catholic Charities, and the Salvation Army—hired us to conduct a unique needs assessment study to help them understand how they could have better served African-American Gulf Coast residents after Hurricane Katrina.
Our StreetSmart team traveled to ten cities in four states to recruit and conduct a series of ten town hall meetings, each with more than 200 people, as well as hundreds of in-person interviews in trailer parks across the South. The data from these meetings and interviews with both frontline victims and public officials not only helped these non-profits to better target and communicate with those in need, it also led to comprehensive change in their resource allocation process and spearheaded lobbying efforts with Congress to requisition additional funds for reconstruction. ![]()
